How to help faculty become better
instructors online?
of Management at the University of Minnesota has extended its
academic offerings to the online environment.
In order to better understand and harness the power of these new
learning paradigms and technologies, most faculty benefit from
receiving guidance and coaching on how to become effective
instructors in the online world.
Dr. Senior, as the first instructional designer at the College of
Continuing Education, provided instructional design consulting and
coaching to several graduate faculty at the Carlson School of
Management at a time when they were just stepping into this arena.
In most academic programs, faculty are experts and researchers in
their own disciplines and not necessarily trained as educators, let
alone online teaching.
As illustrated in the testimonial provided here, faculty coaching and
support can go a long way in helping them become and feel more
effective in the classroom, virtually or face-to-face.
