You know your courses could be better.
Let's make that happen.

You design courses, teach online, or support faculty who do — and you already sense the gap between what you're producing and what you know is possible. The challenge isn't motivation or intelligence. It's the absence of a clear, practical framework — and someone who's applied it across hundreds of courses to work through it with you.

What participants say
"The most practical professional development I've attended in years. I left with things I could apply the same week."
— Faculty participant, Online Learning Design Lab, Chile
"Fernando has a rare ability to make complex design principles feel accessible and immediately actionable."
— Instructional Designer, Puerto Rico
"The QM rubric finally made sense after this workshop. I wish I'd had this training years ago."
— Faculty member, Colombia

You might be in exactly the right place

  • You're new to online teaching and want to start with the right foundations
  • You're an instructional designer who wants a systematic quality framework

  • You work in Spanish, English, or both
The context I work in

My Online Learning Design Labs have run at universities in Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Colombia — in Spanish and English, virtually and in person. Each one is grounded in Quality Matters standards, but the experience is practical, not theoretical.

Through my role as QM's LATAM representative, participants also gain access to a growing regional network — 45 member institutions across 9 countries — of professionals who share their commitment to quality.

For those who need deeper or more individualized support, I offer one-on-one coaching engagements built entirely around your course, your goals, and your timeline.

Not just a better course —
a stronger design vocabulary

The most lasting outcome of working together isn't any single course. It's the framework, the language, and the confidence to keep improving your practice independently.

01
Master the QM rubric
Understand the 8 General Standards and 42 Specific Review Standards — not as a checklist, but as a coherent design philosophy you can apply to any course.
02
Apply it to your own work
Every program is designed around your actual course or design challenge — not abstract examples. You leave with concrete revisions made, not just a list of things to do.
03
Get expert feedback
You'll receive specific, actionable feedback on your work from someone who has reviewed and designed hundreds of courses across dozens of institutions.
04
Build your professional language
Gain the vocabulary to advocate for quality course design within your institution — and to evaluate your own and others' work with precision and confidence.
05
Join a regional network
Connect with 45 QM member institutions across 9 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean — a growing community of practitioners committed to the same standards.
06
Pursue certification
If desired, prepare for formal QM course certification — a credential increasingly recognized by institutions, accreditors, and employers as a mark of genuine quality.
